My many heartfelt thanks to those that served and continue to serve.
Both here at home or from my home country, but also…
for those around the world as other countries and allies celebrate Remembrance Day and Armistice Day.

My mom had a photo request earlier this evening that had me scouting through some old photo files. In the midst, I was able to relive some magic. Last summer, I went to Disneyland with my immediate family for the first time in years. I honestly couldn’t even remember the last time I’d been with my brother. We went to celebrate his birthday along with Father’s Day. What a lovely time! :)
I don’t know how I didn’t share this one before from while we were standing in line for Thunder Mountain. I absolutely love the sun flare and LensBaby effect here. I hope that you find the way to relive some of the magic in your life.

Last Sunday, I met this beautiful family at the entrance to Balboa Park Trails and we nearly had to call it a day before we even got started. The drizzle began, the clouds in the sky threatened, and the forecast said RAIN. Yikes!
But it wasn’t raining just yet and I am so thankful that the H family was willing to adventure down the trail with their two small boys. I had so much fun wandering the trail with you all. Watching the boys swing, pick flowers, find rocks, and race across bridges. They are a joy… and the two of your are wonderful parents. And S? I still maintain you are a total rock star adventuring through the trail, over rocky creek beds, and up marshy hills in those heels. Seriously… especially when all of your boys were equipped with sensible shoes. :) But, with two curious and energetic boys, I’m sure you have many, many more adventures to come.

Her mom was my very first best friend… and she’s my oldest friend. We’ve been friends since preschool. Daisies. Brownies. Schoolmates. We mothered our dolls and played for hours; elaborate stories and exciting adventures in the countryside (and sometimes the poison oak! oops!); singing Disney songs at the top of our lungs; and so on and so on…
At the end of 3rd grade, I moved hundreds of miles away. In the pre-internet, long-distance-phone-calls-are-expensive days, our friendship could have withered. Instead, we became fierce pen pals and seized every opportunity to see each other in person (even if though sometimes it may have only been once every three years). Silly letters that we’ve both kept… some of which I hear are stored in the Little Love’s room at the moment. We can see our handwriting improve… our lives mature… the price of postage going up. And through it all, you can see a friendship.
Tara, I’m unbelievably blessed by your presence in my life and I’m so glad your Little Love came early so I could meet her. She’s beautiful and I cannot wait to hear the stories of HER growing up. I watched you mother your dolls as we played for hours at my house or yours. Our imaginations ran wild and even then I knew you’d be a fantastic mom one day. In the much too short visit we had last month, I saw all of my beliefs confirmed. She’s so lucky to have you… and Dustin too.
All my love to you and your family… thank you so much for a splendid visit. And welcome to the world Little Love, we’re SO glad you’re here!

“A brother is a friend given by Nature.”
~Jean Baptiste Legouve
“Boys are found everywhere — on top of, underneath, inside of, climbing on, swinging from, running around or jumping to.
Mothers love them, little girls hate them, older sisters and brothers tolerate them, adults ignore them and Heaven protects them.
A boy is Truth with dirt on its face, Beauty with a cut on its finger,
Wisdom with bubble gum in its hair and the Hope of the future with a frog in its pocket.”
~ Alan Marshall Beck

Three weeks and three days after Hayden made his appearance into the world and our family “tribe,” I finally got to meet the precious little man. John and Rachel, your little guy is simply perfect and I can’t wait to watch him grow with you. Shannon, take care of that handsome little brother of yours… he’s so lucky to have such an awesome big sister! Here’s a sneak peek from our session last weekend.

Here’s the extended preview of the lovely little Jocelynne from earlier this month. She’s a fantastic dancer and just a gem to be around. Thank you again Christa and Jocelynne; I had a wonderful time with the two of you.

The weather could not have been more beautiful on Saturday afternoon when we ventured down to the Balboa Park Trail from Hillcrest to take pictures. Jocelynne was an excellent model and I can’t wait to show you more. We had so much fun… and what a find that trail was! It was so beautiful and green from the recent rain. Here’s the sneak peek – more to come!
